Hey everyone,
Welcome back to Crushing On Magazine!
We are undergoing some changes over here at Crushing On. We are no longer just a podcast production company but will create all types of content.
Just a little rundown:
This newsletter will still be up and running and providing you with news, gossip and more. But it will also collate a little summary of the content we will produce on other platforms.
Our longer-form written content that we used to do here, will live on our website, but we will link to the pieces in the newsletter and on social media.
Our podcast, Crushing On with Caryn, which has been the capstone of our content for the past four years, will now only be a limited series following specific themes. We are busy working on an exciting new series that is research-based and features a lot of voices in SA entertainment. We will reveal more in a few months. Our previous conversations will still be available to listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
Our entertainment chats and interviews will now be housed on our YouTube channel. In our pivot towards video content, we thought it would be best to show you the convos we are having.
Short-form video content such as reviews, little vids, events etc, you can find on our TikTok account. It’s growing and we are having a lot of fun over there so make sure to follow us.
And then, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for exclusive content and to get updates on all stuffs.
article: south african horror films: a sign of the times?
As a self-proclaimed scaredy-pants, I’ve never really indulged in horror. When simply glancing at my unanswered emails sends fear and dread into my soul, why am I looking to get that from a film? But as a film-lover, this gaping hole in my viewing history is starting to become embarrassing.
In my quest to watch more South African films, I have been noticing that there has been a rise in South African horror. And one day people are probably going to write long research papers on it but for now, I just wanted to speculate a little.
